NICU Nurse – 12-Hour Nights
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a NICU nurse for a 13-week assignment in a Level 3 unit. You'll provide direct care to neonates with respiratory failure and preterm conditions in a designated baby-friendly facility with strong breastfeeding support.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour nights: 6:45 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend requirement
- First to float to other facility locations (rare mid-shift floats)
- Self-scheduling with manager approval; schedules posted 4 weeks in advance
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Overtime and extra shifts available
Clinical Environment
- Level 3 NICU with respiratory and preterm patient populations
- Charge nurse available (generally no patient assignment, provides break relief)
- Nurse aides assigned per census and staffing needs
- On-site hospitalist/intensivist
- Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
- Ventilator experience required
Requirements
- Current BLS (AHA) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications
- Pediatric experience highly preferred
- Current nursing license
- Two supervisory references from NICU setting (one within 12 months, one within 3 years)
- Valid government-issued ID for verification
Orientation & Expectations
- 1–2 days floor-specific orientation with preceptor
- Bedside report at start of shift
- Holiday rotation with core staff (not guaranteed time off)
- Navy scrubs required (undershirts: navy, white, or black)
Contract Details
- Start: December 8, 2026
- Up to 4 shifts may be canceled per 13-week assignment
