Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical Float

Position Overview

The facility seeks an experienced RN to join the medical-surgical unit on a night float rotation. You'll provide care across the unit and may be called to support critical care areas when needed. This is a 56-week contract with guaranteed 48-hour weeks.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 3 × 12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• 2 on-call shifts every 4 weeks
• Every other weekend required
• Expect to work some holidays

Responsibilities

• Float within the hospital and to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
• Manage patients across medical-surgical acuity levels
• Occasional critical care patient assignments
• Standard nursing duties: assessments, medication administration, patient education, and coordination of care

Requirements

• Current SC RN license (active at time of submission; no pending licenses)
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• 2 supervisory references required
• Willing to stay for the full contract duration with minimal time-off requests, especially in the first two weeks
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)

Additional Notes

• Pre-assignment online modules required (approximately 2 hours, completed before start)
• 50-mile local radius rule applies
• Locals accepted at local rate
• Former permanent staff must wait 5 years before returning as a traveler
