Surgical Nurse First Assistant – OR
The Opportunity
The facility's operating room is seeking an experienced Surgical Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) for a 13-week contract. You'll work day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) in a high-volume surgical environment managing a diverse range of complex procedures.
Schedule & Call
- Primary Shift: 3x12-hour days (or 4x10-hour days, if preferred)
- On-Call Requirement: Approximately 8 days over the 6-week rotation, split evenly among RNFAs
- Monday–Friday kidney call: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
- Saturday–Sunday kidney call: 6:00 AM – 6:00 AM
- Weekend general call: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Holiday general call: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (no kidney call on holidays)
- Holiday Commitment: Must work 3 of 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of OR scrub and circulating experience
- RNFA Certification and BLS
- California license (Compact license required at submission)
- Proficiency in: robotics, bariatric, general, colorectal, ortho/spine, vascular, urology, and gynecology
- Preferred: Transplant and cardiovascular surgery experience
The Role
You'll first assist on a wide range of procedures including cardiac, vascular, bariatric, general, ortho/spine, urology, gynecology, and transplant cases. Experience with laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgery is essential.
Staffing Flexibility
You may be asked to float to nearby sister facilities. Refusal to float may result in termination.
