Pre-Op / Surgical Center RN — Wheeling, WV

This 13-week contract (with a 91-week potential duration) places you in a busy hospital-based pre-op and surgical care unit managing a high volume of same-day and overnight surgical patients. The unit is not a freestanding surgical center — it operates within an acute care hospital setting.

Schedule

• 3 × 12-hour or 4 × 10-hour shifts per week; day, afternoon, or midnight shifts based on department needs
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Rotating weekends: one 8-hour shift (7 AM–3 PM) on Saturday or Sunday
• 1–2 second-call shifts per 4-week schedule (24-hour weekend call, 7 AM–7 AM)
• Call response time: 30 minutes
• 50-mile radius rule applies; unexpired driver's license required at submission

Clinical Scope

• Pre-op assessment and care for 55–70 cases per day across multiple OR suites
• Procedures include same-day and overnight surgical cases, including robotic-assisted surgery
• Strong IV skills required; scrubbing required for RNs
• Float coverage to OR holding area as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• Solid IV and surgical care skills; robotic surgery experience preferred
• Charge nurse or house supervisor experience a plus
