Registered Nurse – Pediatric Psychiatry

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an RN to join its pediatric psychiatry unit. You'll deliver direct and indirect patient care to children and adolescents, collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team to plan and manage treatment. This is a 13-week contract position.

Shift & Schedule

• Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (3x12-hour shifts per week)
• Start date: November 23, 2026

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care through the nursing process, including patient assessment, intervention, and evaluation.
• Educate patients and families about their care and treatment plans.
• Delegate and supervise nursing interventions while maintaining a safe care environment.
• Work collaboratively with physicians, therapists, and other clinical staff.
• Manage high-stress situations professionally and compassionately.

Requirements

• Current Maine RN license (clean record; candidates with licensure hits will not be considered).
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• Graduation from an approved nursing program.
• 1–3 years of nursing experience working with children and adolescents preferred.
• Basic Dysrhythmia knowledge preferred (or obtain before orientation completion).
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training preferred (or obtain before orientation completion).
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius.

Contract Details

• Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid.
• The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week contract period.
