Medical/Surgical & Observation Unit — Travel RN | 12-Hour Nights | Morgantown, WV
This 13-week travel nursing contract places you on a combined observation and medical-surgical floor managing a diverse, fast-paced patient population. The unit accommodates general floor patients and no longer accepts stepdown-level acuity.
Shift & Schedule
- 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 12-hour nights
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage expected as scheduled
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
Patient Population & Clinical Scope
Patients include cardiac, IDDM, COPD, trauma, ortho, ENT, urology, and pain management cases. The unit has a high turn rate — expect 10–12 patient turns per day. RNs must be comfortable titrating drips, including heparin infusions on the floor.
Telemetry & Support
- Telemetry is present; tele techs are on unit, but RNs must independently read and interpret strips
- Respiratory therapy is in-house 24/7; no ventilators on this unit
- Charge nurse on every shift; house supervisor in-house 24/7
- Nurse aides available each shift
Requirements
- Active RN license (West Virginia or compact; license must be obtained prior to start)
- BLS and ACLS required
- Ability to titrate vasoactive and anticoagulant drips
- Telemetry strip interpretation
- BSN not required
Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs
