Labor & Delivery RN – Salem, VA
Position Overview
The facility's Labor & Delivery unit is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week contract. You'll work 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) with 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule. This is a 36-guaranteed-hours position.
Clinical Scope
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license (Virginia)
- BLS, ACLS, NRP
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring or C-EFM certification
- Proven L&D experience with strip interpretation
- Competency in IV insertion, lab draws, blood and nitrous administration
- Circulator experience for cesarean deliveries
- Spinal anesthesia PACU recovery experience
- Knowledge of common OB medications and obstetrical complications
- Ability to assist with epidural placement and set up for vaginal deliveries
Unit Details
You'll float between Labor & Delivery and Postpartum as needed. A unit secretary is available during day shifts; no tech coverage. Huddle begins at 6:45 AM. Hospital-provided scrubs required.
What We're Looking For
Strong teamwork, AIDET patient-experience principles, and a collaborative approach to obstetrical care. Experience with vaginal exams and JADA/BAKRI management preferred.
