Registered Nurse – Neuroscience ICU
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced ICU nurse to join its neuroscience intensive care unit. You'll provide direct, comprehensive care to critically ill patients with complex neurological conditions, including post-interventional stroke cases (thrombectomy, coiling) and other high-acuity neuro patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver skilled nursing assessment, monitoring, and intervention for critically ill patients
- Manage advanced life support equipment including ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, arterial and central lines
- Administer and titrate vasoactive and sedation drips per physician orders
- Monitor external ventricular drains (EVDs), ventriculostomies, and lumbar drains
- Assess and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team on individualized care plans
- Perform patient and family education on condition and treatment
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation
- Support quality improvement and safety initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license (or compact license as applicable)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of ICU/critical care experience
- Recent neuro ICU experience with post-stroke intervention cases preferred
- Experience with titratable drips, hemodynamic monitoring, and critical care equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree
- CCRN certification
- Experience with EVD/ventriculostomy, lumbar drains, and ICP monitoring
- Comfort managing multiple vasoactive drips
- CRRT and therapeutic temperature management experience
Schedule
- 3 shifts per week, 12-hour days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Weekends and holidays as assigned
- 13-week contract
