Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Registered Nurse

Hays, KS | Days, 4x12 (07:00–19:00) | 13-Week Contract

This PCU position offers day shift coverage in an acute care setting, managing intermediate-acuity patients who require close monitoring and skilled nursing intervention.

Schedule & Hours

• 4x12-hour day shifts; 36 or 48 hours per week
• Weekend rotation required; some holiday coverage expected
• No block scheduling greater than 3–4 consecutive shifts
• No on-call requirement

Clinical Scope

• Required skills include IV starts, dysrhythmia interpretation, and dysrhythmia management
• All RNs are expected to float to other units when short-staffed

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of PCU or similar experience
• IV Start proficiency required
• Active, unencumbered RN license (no pending licenses accepted)
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• First-time travel nurses welcome

Additional Details

• Scrub color: Any color
• Free parking on site
• RTO must be pre-approved and documented before assignment start; minimize time-off requests, especially during the first two weeks
• Candidates living within 45 miles of the facility are not eligible
• Drug screen (13-panel, negative) required within 30 days of start
• Lab check-in required within 24 hours of signing
