MedSurg/Ortho Travel Nurse — Santa Cruz, CA

This 13-week contract places you on a busy Medical-Surgical/Orthopedic unit caring for a mixed population of general MedSurg and orthopedic patients. The unit operates with consistent support resources, including a non-patient-carrying charge nurse, patient care technicians, an IV/PICC team available during daytime hours, and 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy coverage. A hospitalist or intensivist is on-site around the clock.

Contract Details

• Start Date: December 7, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour days, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Schedule & Float

• Every other weekend required
• Travelers maintain a home-base unit but are expected to float between two MedSurg units
• Two orientation shifts provided (one on each unit)

Cancellation Policy

• Up to 4 shifts may be canceled over a 13-week assignment; up to 3 shifts for shorter assignments

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of MedSurg experience
• Active California RN license
• BLS required
• ONC certification preferred for nurses with oncology backgrounds
• Scrub color: Navy

This is a solid placement for an experienced MedSurg/Ortho nurse who is comfortable in a float-capable role and ready to hit the ground running in an acute care environment.
