Labor & Delivery RN — Salinas, CA
12-Hour Days | 8-Week Contract | Start: November 9, 2026
This L&D opportunity is based at a teaching hospital serving a high-risk obstetric population with a significant diabetic patient base. The unit includes LDR rooms, bays that double as pre-op for C-sections, and OR/PACU capacity.
Clinical Scope
- High-risk patient population with a focus on diabetic management
- External cephalic versions and second-trimester cerclages performed on day shift
- No elective inductions prior to 39 weeks gestation
- RNs follow the patient through the full C-section experience until sign-off
Shift & Schedule
- 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 12-hour shifts
- 3–4 weekend shifts per 28-day schedule
- Self-scheduling available; balanced by leadership based on experience and skill set
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
Requirements
- Active California RN license
- BLS & ACLS (American Heart Association)
- NRP certification
- AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring certification or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of L&D experience
Additional Details
- Scrubs are provided for L&D travelers
- Orientation begins on Mondays only; includes HR, Occupational Health, medication testing, and 3–4 precepted unit shifts before independent assignment
- Contract length: 8 weeks
