PCU / Stepdown

ICU RN – Progressive Care Unit | Mission Hills, CA

Day Shift | 13-Week Contract | ASAP Start

This travel opportunity places a true ICU-level RN in a Progressive Care Unit managing high-acuity adult and geriatric patients. The unit cares for patients presenting with sepsis, MI, stroke, CHF, post-open heart surgery, COVID, and traumatic brain injury. Procedures performed on the unit include intubation, extubation, and EGD.

Shift & Scheduling

• Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 3×12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Holiday commitment: must work 3 of 5 (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Float within skillset required; float between nearby sister facilities is possible

Required Certifications

• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, LA City Fire Card

Required Clinical Skills

• Ventilator/airway management: intubation support, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care
• Hemodynamic management: cardiac and vasoactive drips (monitoring, no titration), ABG interpretation, dysrhythmia identification and management
• Lines and access: IV insertion, peripheral line care, PICC line management
• Additional: chest tube management, blood product administration, pre/post hemodialysis, IV insulin protocols, telemetry (unit and remote), wound care

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of true ICU experience (float-only background not accepted)
• Active, in-hand license required at submission (compact accepted)
• First-time travelers welcome
• Local candidates (within 50 miles) accepted
• All RTO must be submitted at time of application
