PCU / Progressive Care Unit — Travel RN

Bristol, TN | Night Shift (18:30–07:00) | 4×12 Hours | 13-Week Contract

This PCU position focuses on adult and geriatric patients managing complex conditions including COPD, CHF, diabetes, seizures, and sepsis. The unit provides a high level of interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, physical therapy, rapid response teams, phlebotomy, and radiology.

Schedule & Floating

• Block scheduling; 36/36, 36/48, or 48/48 options available
• Every other weekend and rotating holidays required

• No on-call requirement

Clinical Skills Required

• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Care of ventilated and tracheostomy patients
• BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
• Vasoactive and cardiac drip management (no titration)
• Heparin protocols, sheath removal, procedural sedation monitoring
• PICC and port access/management, chest tube care
• Bedside bronchoscopy and thoracentesis support
• Wound care/wound vac, ABG interpretation, pre/post cardiac cath care

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of PCU/step-down experience
• Active RN license
• BLS and ACLS (AHA-issued only); NIHSS certification required
• Previous charge experience preferred; first-time travelers welcome
• Must reside 100+ miles from the facility

Compliance Notes

• Relias advanced EKG test must be completed within 72 hours of offer acceptance (two attempts allowed)
• Drug test required 12–14 days prior to start date
• Orientation begins Sundays; includes approximately 4–5 hours of online modules (non-billable)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered); COVID-19 vaccine not required
