Progressive Care Unit – Nights
Position Details
- Shift: 4 x 12-hour nights (48 hrs/week; 36 hrs/week available upon request)
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Start Date: January 11, 2027
- Schedule: Every other weekend; holiday rotation required (work 1–2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays unless unit is closed)
Unit Overview
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide care for acuity levels across progressive care, stepdown, and telemetry patients
- Read and interpret EKGs/ECGs and manage rhythm monitoring
- Administer and monitor critical drips: heparin, insulin, Lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin
- Complete dysrhythmia assessment during onboarding (80% passing score required)
Requirements
- Active Iowa or compact multistate RN license
- 24 months of experience in progressive care, stepdown, med-surg, telemetry, or med-tele (first-time travelers with 2+ years hospital experience considered)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA/ARC)
- Proficiency with required drips and EKG interpretation
- De-escalation certificate preferred (SAMA, MAB, MOAB, or CPI; can obtain during onboarding)
- NIH Stroke Scale certification nice to have
