Orthopedic Surgical Nurse – OR

Houston, TX | 13-Week Contract

Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Day shift; report at 6:45 AM for huddle)

Schedule: Monday–Friday. Huddles on Mon/Wed/Fri; shift extends to 5:15 PM on those days.

Call: Approximately 4 per month (weekdays only, no weekends). Call typically involves staying over to complete cases.

The Role

You'll join the operating room as a scrub or circulating nurse in a dedicated orthopedic surgical suite. The unit performs a full range of orthopedic procedures including large joint replacements, spine surgery, hand and foot procedures, arthroscopic scopes—no neurosurgery. Most surgical teams include a PA, CST, or NP to assist.

Each OR operates with one scrub nurse and one circulator per room, supported by positioning techs and other clinical staff. This collaborative environment ensures smooth case flow and strong teamwork.

Requirements

• Current RN license (Texas)
• Significant experience in large joint and spine orthopedic surgery
• Proficiency in total joint and spine procedures strongly preferred
• BLS certification
