Assistant Director of Nursing – Emergency Department
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced nursing leader to serve as Assistant Director of Nursing in the Emergency Department. You will provide administrative and clinical leadership, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care and supporting a strong, engaged nursing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to maintain safe patient coverage
- Monitor unit performance metrics, quality indicators, and regulatory compliance
- Support staff development, performance evaluations, and corrective actions as needed
- Serve as a clinical resource and escalation point for complex patient care and staff issues
- Collaborate with physicians, department leaders, and hospital administration on operational needs
- Facilitate staff meetings, education, and onboarding for new team members
- Develop and maintain systems for tracking medication errors, counseling, and performance improvement
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Participate in budget planning, supply management, and process improvement initiatives
- Address patient and family concerns to maintain satisfaction and safety
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (New York State)
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- BLS certification
- 7+ years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or charge nurse role
- Strong leadership, staffing, and performance management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nursing
- ACLS certification
Position Details
- Shift: 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM, 5 nights per week
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Location: Bronx, NY
