Medical-Surgical RN – Ortho Trauma/General Surgery
Position Overview
Join the facility's medical-surgical unit as a Registered Nurse caring for adult patients with orthopedic trauma, general surgery, and neurological injuries. This is a night shift role offering the opportunity to develop strong trauma nursing skills in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: Night, 3×12-hour (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
- Float Requirement: You'll float to similar units and alternate care locations as needed
- Time Off: Up to 7 days pre-approved RTO (excluding holidays); no time off during first week. You must work 2 of 3 major holidays.
Clinical Scope
Required Qualifications
- BLS certification (required)
- ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience
- Ortho/Neuro/Trauma experience required
- Charge experience preferred
- First-time travelers welcome
- Current RN license (NC or compact pending approval)
- EKG testing required prior to start
Orientation & Support
- 12-hour unit orientation + 16 hours organizational education
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with PT, respiratory, IV teams, pharmacy, and rapid response
- Charting via facility system
Dress Code: Navy or white scrubs
Note: Contract staff may be assigned to disaster or mass-casualty response teams during catastrophic events.
