NICU Travel RN — Escondido, CA | 13-Week Contract

This Level III NICU assignment is based in Escondido, CA and serves a neonatal population beginning at 28 weeks gestation. The unit manages a range of acuity including respiratory distress syndrome, hypoglycemia, hyperbilirubinemia, neonatal sepsis, neonatal abstinence syndrome, meconium aspiration, and necrotizing enterocolitis.

Shift & Schedule

• 4x12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights (07:00–19:00 / 19:00–07:00)
• Start date: November 16, 2026
• Must work 2 of 3 holidays (including Eves): Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's
• Maximum 6 days RTO; minimum 3 shifts per week must be maintained
• Full weekend availability required

Float Requirements

This position requires floating to satellite NICU locations across the San Diego region. Mid-shift floating may occasionally occur. Mileage reimbursement from home location is provided when floating to a site other than your assigned base. Candidates must also be willing to float within scope to PICU, CTICU, and Med/Surg as needed.

Clinical Skills Required

• Conventional and high-frequency ventilation management
• UAC/UVC/PICC line placement and care
• Chest tube management
• Immediate neonatal assessment, resuscitation, and stabilization
• Bubble CPAP, HFNC, therapeutic hypothermia
• Neonatal dosage calculations, sepsis workup, phototherapy

Requirements

• Active California RN license (pending accepted with confirmed ETA)
• BLS and NRP required; PALS preferred
• Minimum 3 years of Level III (or higher) NICU experience
• Charting system experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates (within 50 miles) are not eligible
• Flu vaccine required; no exemptions accepted
