Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced PACU nurse to join its post-operative care team on a 91-week contract. This is a day-shift position with guaranteed 36 hours per week and on-call responsibilities.
About the Unit
You'll work in a busy PACU managing post-operative patients across multiple acuity levels. The unit handles a high volume of post-surgical cases, with particular emphasis on neuro-surgical patients. You'll care for patients requiring mechanical ventilation support, manage pain control systems, and perform critical hemodynamic monitoring.
What You'll Do
- Set up and manage patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) pumps
- Titrate IV medications and manage arterial line monitoring
- Monitor and manage patients on ventilator support
- Coordinate seamless transitions of care as patients move through recovery
What We're Looking For
- Current PACU or ICU nursing experience (required)
- Strong neurological assessment skills
- Demonstrated competency with mechanical ventilation
- ACLS and PALS certification
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Reliable team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment
Schedule & Expectations
- Day shifts: 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- Wear: Navy scrubs
- On-call: Weekday evenings (9:30 PM – 8:00 AM) and rotating weekend calls
- Call duty rotates among staff
- No floating to other units
