About the Role

The facility is seeking an experienced OR nurse to provide circulating and/or scrub support across a variety of general surgical cases, including general surgery, orthopedic, gynecology, urology, and ENT procedures.

You will be responsible for maintaining sterile fields, managing instrumentation, performing pre- and intra-operative assessments, and collaborating with surgeons and anesthesia providers to ensure safe, efficient case flow. Accurate instrument and sponge counts, patient safety monitoring, and detailed documentation are core to the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide circulating and/or scrub nursing support during surgical procedures
• Prepare and maintain sterile field, instruments, and equipment
• Perform pre-operative assessments and verify surgical site, consent, and procedure per protocol
• Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after procedures
• Monitor patient status and safety throughout procedures
• Manage supplies and equipment to ensure availability and proper function
• Collaborate with the surgical team to optimize case flow
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-operative handoff
• Document intraoperative care accurately, including counts, medications, and patient status

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 1+ years of general OR experience
• Ability to function in circulating and/or scrub roles across multiple surgical specialties
• ADN or BSN
