Neuro Progressive Care Unit – RN

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its Medical Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit. This is a fast-paced environment caring for adult patients with acute neurological conditions, including stroke, seizure disorders, traumatic brain injury, and post-operative neurosurgical patients.

Schedule & Commitment

• 3x12-hour shifts, days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Rotating weekends
• 13-week contract
• Float required to other facility campuses as needed

Clinical Scope

You'll manage patients across a range of neurological diagnoses and presentations:

• Acute ischemic stroke (including tPA candidates)
• Transient ischemic attacks
• Seizure disorders and epilepsy monitoring
• Traumatic brain injury
• Intracranial hemorrhage (stable, non-comatose)
• Movement and neuromuscular disorders
• Post-spinal surgery recovery

Essential Skills & Experience

• Minimum 2 years neuro PCU experience (first-time travelers welcome)
• Stroke assessment and management, including CVA protocols
• Non-invasive airway management (external CPAP/BiPAP)
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring
• PICC and central line management
• Tracheostomy care
• TR-band and Yale Swallow Screen assessment
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification

Previous Charge RN experience is preferred.

Requirements

• Active RN license in hand at time of submission
• EKG compliance exam required (2 attempts allowed)
• Willingness to float across facility campuses
• Clean background check
• COVID-19 and flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions only)
