Medical-Surgical Nurse – 13-Week Assignment
Location: Pell City, AL
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Schedule: 36 hours per week
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: November 30, 2026
About the Role
The facility is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented RN to join the Medical-Surgical unit. You'll provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with diverse medical and surgical diagnoses, ranging from acute to chronic conditions including cardiac, respiratory, and diabetes-related care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition; escalate care as needed
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
- Manage pre- and post-operative patient care, including wound care and pain management
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care and participate in discharge planning
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate EMR documentation
- Follow infection control and fall prevention protocols
- Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift
Requirements
- Active RN license in Alabama (or compact license)
- Minimum 2 years' recent medical-surgical nursing experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- BLS certification (required); ACLS preferred
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- CMSRN certification preferred
- Ability to manage diverse patient populations across varying acuity levels
