ICU Registered Nurse – 13-Week Travel Contract

Location: Birmingham, AL

Unit: ICU (1 South)

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Schedule: 36 hours per week

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: November 30, 2026

About the Role

You'll deliver comprehensive, direct care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced intensive care environment. This role demands strong clinical judgment, proficiency with advanced monitoring and life support equipment, and the ability to respond quickly to patient changes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage high-acuity patients requiring continuous monitoring, mechanical ventilation, and hemodynamic support
• Administer and titrate vasoactive and sedation medications per physician orders
• Monitor and maintain arterial lines, central lines, ventilators, and hemodynamic monitoring systems
• Perform rapid assessments, respond to code situations, and escalate care as needed
• Collaborate with intensivists and interdisciplinary teams on patient plans of care
• Educate patients and families on condition and treatment
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record
• Uphold infection control and safety protocols

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• BLS and ACLS certification
• Minimum 1+ year of ICU/critical care experience
• 2+ years recent experience in critical care nursing
• Proficiency with ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, and titratable drips
• Travel nursing experience required

Preferred

• BSN degree
• CCRN certification
