Group Facilitator – Mental Health & Wellness
Location: Asheville, NC
Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Friday–Tuesday)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
About the Role
Join a psychiatric facility's Social Services team as a Group Facilitator. You'll conduct psychotherapeutic group activities across adult, adolescent, child, and geriatric units, completing Activity Therapy Assessments and developing individualized treatment plans. Expect to facilitate approximately four group sessions daily across multiple units, working alongside RNs and clinical staff to maintain therapeutic ratios and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate and lead psychotherapeutic group activities tailored to each patient population
- Conduct comprehensive Activity Therapy Assessments
- Develop and document treatment plans for newly admitted patients
- Document all clinical activities in the medical record
- Collaborate with nursing and tech staff to ensure safe, compliant group environments
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Activity Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Dance Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Expressive Arts Therapy)
- Active certification, licensure, or registration such as:
- NC Licensed Recreational Therapist (LRT, LRT-A, or CTRS)
- Registered Art Therapist (ATR)
- Music Therapist (MT)
- Dance Movement Therapist (R-DMT)
- Or comparable credential (LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT considered)
- Experience running therapeutic groups in a mental health setting
