Med Surg

Medical-Surgical RN | Travel Contract | Latrobe, PA

This 13-week travel assignment places you on a Medical-Surgical unit in Latrobe, Pennsylvania — a scenic Western Pennsylvania town about an hour from Pittsburgh, with easy access to hiking trails, state parks, and city amenities.

Shift & Schedule

• Rotating days and nights, 3×12-hour shifts
• Day: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM | Night: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required

Unit Overview

The unit serves adult and geriatric patients with a focus on orthopedic, neurosurgical, general surgery, and urology cases. The team is supported by IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response, and social services.

Required Skills & Clinical Scope

• Oxygen/nasal cannula administration and tank management
• Central line blood draws, PICC line management, peripheral IV care
• Heparin and insulin administration; PCA management
• Wound care including wound vac; surgical drain management
• Colostomy/ileostomy care; continuous bladder irrigation
• Feeding tube management; substance withdrawal protocols
• Pre/post neurosurgical care; total joint replacement care
• Telemetry monitoring experience preferred

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of Med-Surg or Med-Surg/Telemetry experience
• Active Pennsylvania or Compact RN license
• BLS certification (AHA only)
• First-time travelers welcome
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

• No floating required
• Orientation: 12 hours
• All RTO must be submitted at time of application
