Cardiac Surgical ICU / Step-Down RN — Travel Contract

Tuscaloosa, AL | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 13-Week Contract

This travel opportunity is in a Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) and adjoining cardiac step-down unit, caring for adult and geriatric patients recovering from cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery. The role demands strong critical care skills and a high level of clinical competency.

Unit Scope

• CSICU: Post-operative critical care with a focus on complex invasive hemodynamic monitoring for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical patients
• Step-Down Unit: Continued recovery and monitoring of post-cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery patients
• Both units are supported by a dedicated cardiovascular educator

Schedule & Hours

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week (48 hours available)
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays as required

Float Requirement

Must be willing to float to other units and hospital locations.

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (minimum)
• Active RN license — State of Alabama or compact (no temporary licenses accepted)
• AHA BLS certification
• AHA NIH Stroke Scale certification
• Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience

Preferred Certifications

• AHA PALS (if floating to pediatric areas)
