NICU

NICU Registered Nurse – Night Shift | Oxnard, CA | 13-Week Contract

This 13-week travel assignment places you in a Level 3b NICU caring for neonates across all gestational ages. The unit manages high-acuity patients including premature infants, sepsis, therapeutic cooling cases, and neonates with substance exposure/withdrawal. No ECMO is performed; surgical patients are transferred out.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays coordinated with permanent staff
• First to float (to L&D or postpartum to care for babies)
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week; hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment

Unit Details

• Charge nurse present; no nurse aides
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available 24/7
• Ventilatory support includes bubble CPAP, oscillator, and Aveya vents
• Neonatologist available on call
• Scrub color: navy

Requirements

• Minimum 2–3 years of NICU experience required; Level 3 NICU experience specifically required
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Ability to attend deliveries preferred
• Spanish-speaking candidates preferred
• Therapeutic cooling experience preferred
• Active California RN license required
• Certifications: BLS and NRP (required)

Orientation

2–3 unit-specific orientation shifts provided upon start.
