Labor & Delivery Nurse – Bakersfield, CA
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (12-hour shift)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: December 7, 2026
About the Role
You will deliver skilled nursing care to obstetric patients, supervise nursing staff, and coordinate multidisciplinary care in a fast-paced labor and delivery environment. Using critical thinking and professional judgment, you'll assess patients, develop individualized care plans, and collaborate with physicians, midwives, families, and care team members to ensure safe, compassionate outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care during labor, delivery, and postpartum phases
- Assess maternal and fetal health, interpret monitoring data, and respond to changes promptly
- Supervise and direct nursing staff activities
- Educate patients and families on labor processes, pain management, and postpartum care
- Participate in discharge planning and ensure continuity of care
- Delegate appropriately and coordinate the healthcare team
- Maintain a safe, healing environment aligned with established standards of care
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Minimum 2 years recent acute care experience
- Current RN licensure in California
- Current BLS certification from an approved vendor
- AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS
- Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
- AHA-NRP or ARC-NALS
Additional Information
- 36 or 48-hour weekly schedules available
- Float to affiliated facility as needed
- All required vaccinations required per organizational policy
