Travel Nurse – Progressive Care / Med-Surg Telemetry | Night Shift | Winston-Salem, NC

This high-acuity mixed unit cares for a predominantly respiratory and cardiac patient population, including COPD exacerbations, ia, acute respiratory failure, pulmonary embolism, and COVID-19. The unit operates at the higher end of the med-surg acuity spectrum with PCU-level patients, telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, and management of chronic trach/vent patients. No nurse carries more than one ventilator patient at a time.

Assignment Details

• Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour (18:45–07:15)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (extensions to 26 weeks considered)
• Start Date: December 7, 2026
• Orientation: 24 hours

Schedule & Float

• Every other weekend required (approximately 4 weekend shifts per 6 weeks)
• Float to like units within the facility is required
• RTO: Up to 7 days pre-approved; no RTO during the first week; no additional RTO requests after signing

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Active NC or Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS (NIHSS preferred)
• Skills: IV insertion, telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management, ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, cardiac drip management

Unit Resources

• Admission/Discharge nurse, Assistant Nurse Manager, and Rapid Response/Code Teams on shift including weekends
• Vascular Access Team, Behavioral Health Team, Respiratory Therapy, and full interdisciplinary support

Additional Details

• Scrubs: White or navy blue (not provided)
• Flu vaccine required; COVID-19 vaccine not required
• EKG competency testing required prior to start
