PCU / Med-Surg Hybrid — Travel RN | Johnson City, TN

Days | 4x12 | 13-Week Contract

This hybrid Progressive Care / Med-Surg unit manages an adult patient population with a broad range of medical and surgical diagnoses. Clinicians must be proficient and comfortable working in both PCU and Med-Surg settings, as assignments rotate between the two levels of care.

Shift & Schedule

• Day shift: 06:30–19:00
• Schedule options: 36/36, 36/48, or 48/48
• No on-call requirement; rotating weekends
• One pre-approved time-off request honored per contract

Clinical Scope

The unit handles telemetry monitoring (in-unit and remote), dysrhythmia interpretation and management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, central and PICC line care, heparin and IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, post-cardiac and post-neurosurgical care, CVA management, tracheostomy care, wound vac, chest tubes, and peripheral nerve block catheters. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory therapy, rapid response teams, pharmacy, physical therapy, and IV teams.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; at least 1 year of PCU experience documented within the past 2 years *(hard stop)*
• AHA BLS required; AHA ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Telemetry experience preferred; pre/post thoracic surgery and oral suctioning experience a plus
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must reside 100+ miles from the facility
• Must pass an advanced EKG assessment within 72 hours of offer acceptance (two attempts allowed)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Orientation

Orientation begins on Sundays and includes online modules (~4–5 hours, non-billable).
