Med Surg Tele

Adult General Medical/Telemetry RN – Night Shift | Long Beach, CA

Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: Nights, 3×12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Start: November 2026

Position Overview

This Medical/Telemetry unit cares for adult and geriatric patients across a broad range of acute conditions, including post-cardiac angiogram recovery, post-MI, renal failure, and dysrhythmia management. The unit is fast-paced with strong interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams.

Schedule & Float

• Every other weekend required
• Float within Med/Surg, Telemetry, and ED holding based on census
• No on-call required

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or Telemetry RN experience
• Competency in telemetry monitoring (unit and remote), dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Central line and PICC line care, port access, peripheral IV placement
• Blood product administration, heparin and IV insulin protocols
• Feeding tube management, PCA, procedural sedation monitoring
• Pre/post hemodialysis management, wound care/wound vac
• Phlebotomy, post cardiac angiogram care

Certifications Required

• BLS
• EKG Certification (provided by the facility)

Licensure & Compliance

• Active California RN license required prior to submission
• Nursys verification required (pulled within 2 weeks of submission)
• One professional reference required (within past 2 years)
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of application
• First-time travelers welcome if clinically experienced

*The City of Long Beach requires a minimum taxable hourly wage of $25/hour, exclusive of any additional travel benefits.*
