Labor & Delivery / Postpartum RN — Night Shift | Eureka, CA
This 26-week travel contract is open to first-time travelers and places you in a high-acuity OB unit serving a culturally diverse patient population, including high-risk antepartum and postpartum cases. RNs actively circulate on cesarean sections in addition to standard L&D and postpartum duties.
Schedule
- 4x12-hour nights (18:00–06:00)
- Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs
- Must commit to 3 of 5 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
Clinical Scope
- Labor & delivery, postpartum couplet care, and newborn assessment
- Circulating on C-sections and recovering post-op patients
- High-risk antepartum management, magnesium sulfate therapy, and PIH care
- Fetal monitoring (external and internal), IUPC placement, and abnormal FHR pattern recognition
- Postpartum hemorrhage response, breastfeeding/lactation support, and discharge education
- Neonatal care including phototherapy, hypoglycemia management, and thermoregulation
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of L&D/postpartum experience
- Active California RN license (no pending licenses accepted; compact license must be in hand at submission)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
- Float within scope to meet facility needs; may include nearby sister facilities
- 2 references covering the past 3 years required prior to start
- Up to 7 days RTO; all RTO must be requested at time of submission
