Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Travel RN

Burlington, NC | Nights | 13-Week Contract

This cardiac-focused Progressive Care Unit provides 24/7 care to adult patients with moderate-to-high acuity cardiac and respiratory diagnoses. The unit operates with remote telemetry monitoring support and unit secretarial coverage.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3×12-hour shifts
• Weekend rotation and holidays as needed
• Self-scheduling conducted in 6-week blocks based on departmental need and patient acuity

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

Primary focus on cardiac patients: CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization (with and without intervention), rule-out MI, syncope, and pacemaker placement. Secondary focus on respiratory conditions including COPD, ia, and BiPAP management.

Required Skills

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• On-unit telemetry monitoring
• Peripheral line and PICC line care and management
• Cardiac and vasoactive drip management; titration required
• Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Chest tube management
• Tracheostomy care
• BiPAP/CPAP management
• Pre/post cardiac catheterization care
• Rapid Response Team utilization

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Cardiac PCU experience required
• Prior Charge RN experience preferred; first-time travelers welcome
• Active RN license in hand at time of submission
• BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
• Must pass a compliance EKG exam (2 attempts allowed)
• No local candidates within 50 miles of the facility
• Floating to other campus locations may be required
