Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Travel Nurse | Night Shift

Latrobe, PA | 13-Week Contract

This PCU opportunity places you in a fast-paced, high-acuity step-down environment caring for adult patients with complex medical and cardiac diagnoses. The unit is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team including IV therapy, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response, and social services.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12-hour shifts
• Weekend coverage required; every other holiday expected
• Float to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius may be required

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

Patients present with CVA, sepsis, active GI bleeding, heart failure, respiratory failure, CAD/NSTEMI, atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias, alcohol withdrawal, and seizure disorders. Core procedures include:

• Cardiac drip management (amiodarone, diltiazem) and titration
• Continuous cardiac and telemetry monitoring
• Heparin protocols for PE, NSTEMI, and ACS
• Continuous BiPAP management
• Central line, PICC, and peripheral IV care
• Tracheostomy care, surgical drain management, and wound vac
• Pre/post cardiac catheterization and angiogram care
• Blood product administration and PCA management

Required Certifications & Qualifications

• Active PA or Compact RN license
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (AHA-issued only; must be current at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of PCU experience
• Two supervisor references preferred

Additional Requirements

• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (verified by driver's license)
• Locals not accepted
• Former permanent employees must have been separated for at least 2 years
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered); COVID-19 vaccine not required
