About the Role
The facility is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist to join a dynamic care team. You'll assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory diseases and conditions, delivering both medicated and non-medicated therapies as ordered. This role balances critical care response, general patient care, diagnostic procedures, and departmental operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Critical & Emergent Care (35%): Respond to code blues and rapid responses; manage airways including endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes; assess and adjust invasive and non-invasive ventilatory support; assist with advanced procedures such as intubation, arterial lines, and bronchoscopy.
- General Care (30%): Administer nebulized and metered-dose inhaler therapy; perform chest physiotherapy and positive expiratory pressure treatments; deliver and titrate oxygen therapy; complete patient assessments and provide clinical recommendations.
- Diagnostic Procedures (15%): Perform pulmonary function testing, 12-lead EKGs, Holter monitoring, and neurodiagnostic studies; draw arterial and capillary blood gases; analyze and interpret results; document oximetry studies.
- Communication & Operations (20%): Document patient care in the medical record; provide shift reports; participate in quality improvement initiatives; maintain and prepare equipment; communicate equipment and supply needs.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in respiratory care
- Current Kentucky respiratory therapy certification OR Indiana respiratory license
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC)
- BLS, ACLS, PALS
- NRP (if working with neonatal patients)
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in respiratory care
- Healthcare or customer service experience
