Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced RN for its Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. You'll provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions, working the night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) for a 13-week contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and treatments, including cardiac drips, per physician orders
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
• Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory diagnoses)
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments using the nursing process
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
• Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and the interdisciplinary team on care planning and discharge
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record
• Typically manage 4–6 patients per shift (varies by acuity and unit needs)
• Ensure compliance with infection control and fall prevention protocols

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license in the state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
• ADN or ASN; BSN preferred
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• 1+ year of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience
• Demonstrated competency in telemetry and EKG interpretation
• Strong communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills
