CVICU – Travel RN | Houston, TX | 13-Week Contract

Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Every other weekend required

This high-acuity cardiovascular/medical ICU position serves a complex patient population including heart failure, STEMI, pulmonary emboli, arrhythmias, and MICU overflow cases. The unit operates with a cardiology fellow available around the clock, with an intensivist model for medical ICU patients. Respiratory therapy is present 24/7.

Clinical Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience; prior travel experience strongly preferred
• Proven ability to manage ventilators, vasopressors, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring (arterial lines, CVP, PAC)
• Experience with IABP, Impella, CRRT, sheath management, and neuromuscular blockade with BIS/TOF monitoring
• Ability to independently titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips (epinephrine, norepinephrine, vasopressin, dobutamine, milrinone, amiodarone, nicardipine, clevidipine)
• RNs interpret their own telemetry strips

Certifications: ACLS and BLS required; NIHSS preferred

Scheduling & Logistics

• Travelers fill open scheduling gaps; self-scheduling is not available for travelers
• Every other weekend required; holidays generally covered, but surrounding days may be required
• No call or standby requirement
• Float to similar acuity units as needed
• Two 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• Cancellation policy: up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
• Parking available via on-site and off-campus options (monthly pass available)

Dress Code: Teal scrub tops and bottoms; solid or coordinating non-terrycloth jackets

Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
