Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Labor and Delivery RN to join a busy obstetric unit. You'll provide direct care to laboring patients, manage deliveries, support cesarean sections, and patients presenting with pregnancy-related concerns. The unit averages 3–4 births per day and maintains staffing ratios aligned with AWHONN guidelines.
Clinical Scope
- Manage laboring patients, inductions, and cesarean deliveries
- Care for antepartum patients with complications, including fetal demises
- patients at 20 weeks gestation or greater
- Titrate medications including Pitocin, insulin, and magnesium
- Monitor patients via electronic fetal monitoring (EFM)
- Collaborate with an on-site OB/Neonatologist available 24/7
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years current Labor and Delivery experience
- Current RN license
- Certifications: NRP, ACLS, BLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring
Schedule & Expectations
- 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- 3 shifts per week, 36 guaranteed hours weekly
- Every other weekend rotation
- One major and two minor holiday commitments
- One on-call shift every 2 weeks
- No floating required
- Light blue scrubs provided
Contract Details
- 13-week assignment
- 1-day unit-specific orientation
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week period
