Registered Nurse – Post-Operative Cardiac Care
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for its post-operative cardiac unit. You will deliver direct patient care, assess and evaluate clinical status, coordinate care planning, and mentor support staff including LPNs, PCTs, and unit secretaries.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour day shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend
- 36 or 48-hour guaranteed hours per week
- 13-week contract
Clinical Scope
You'll care for post-operative open-heart patients and manage complex cardiac conditions. Daily responsibilities include:
- Cardiac monitoring and interpretation of rhythm strips
- Chest tube and drain management, including assistance with removal procedures
- Pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access
- Management of temporary pacing systems (pericardial and transcutaneous)
- Operation and troubleshooting of non-invasive ventilation and high-flow oxygen delivery systems
- Advanced assessment of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of nursing experience
- Post-operative open-heart care experience
- Proficiency in chest tube and drain management
- Current Ohio or Compact RN License
- Active AHA BLS certification
- Active AHA ACLS certification
- Ability to float to all units within skill level
Preferred Qualifications
- Critical care experience
