Geriatric Psychiatry Nurse – Asheville, NC
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week

About the Unit
You'll work nights alongside 1 RN and 2 behavioral health technicians, with patient ratios of 5–9. The team uses sitters as clinically indicated and manages a diverse patient population requiring both medical and psychiatric assessment and intervention.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct nursing care including vital signs monitoring, blood draws, and bladder scans
- Respond to rapid responses and code blues
- Assess and de-escalate patients in behavioral crisis
- Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team to support patient safety and therapeutic outcomes
- Float to other adult inpatient areas as needed
What We're Looking For
- Current BLS certification
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
- Genuine compassion and patience with geriatric patients
- Ability to de-escalate and communicate effectively
- Team-oriented, flexible approach to shift work
Practical Details
- Dress Code: Navy and white scrubs
- Weekend Availability: Required
- No On-Call: Scheduled hours only
