Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) — Travel RN | Nights | Des Moines, IA

This 13-week travel contract places you in a dedicated pediatric intensive care unit caring for critically ill and injured infants, children, and adolescents. The unit is staffed by pediatric critical care physicians and operates as an all-private-room environment focused on patient- and family-centered care.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 3×12-hour shifts, 36 hours/week (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Every 4th weekend
• Holiday rotation: 1–2 summer holidays required unless the unit is closed
• On-call as needed (minimal)

Float Requirements

Candidates must be willing to float to:

• NICU — primarily feeders and growers; may include infants on oxygen or antibiotics, but not the highest-acuity neonates
• General Pediatrics and ED — as helping hands

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of current PICU / Pediatric Intensive Care RN experience
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
• BLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA) certifications
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility

Preferred Experience

• Mechanical ventilators and high-flow oxygen therapy
• Alaris IV pumps and enteral feeding pumps
