Medical-Surgical / Orthopedic Registered Nurse – 12-Hour Nights

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced RN for a 12-hour night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) on a medical-surgical and orthopedic unit. This is a 13-week contract with guaranteed 36 hours per week.

Unit & Clinical Scope

You'll care for patients across a range of diagnoses including orthopedic procedures (total knee/hip replacements, shoulder repairs, fracture management), as well as medical conditions such as COPD, diabetes, wound care, sepsis, ia, CHF, and oncology. The unit emphasizes hourly rounding and bedside shift reports in a dynamic environment focused on continuous learning.

Team & Ratios

• Charge Nurse on each shift

• Monitor technicians support; RNs do not read their own telemetry strips

Scheduling & Requirements

• Self-scheduling with every third weekend rotation (Friday–Saturday for nights)
• Float as needed within scope
• Flexible, self-directed candidates preferred

Orientation

• Classroom training (first week) followed by one 12-hour unit shift
• Open-book competency exam during orientation; 90% score required to continue

Credentials & Policies

• Active RN license and BSN required
• BLS certification required
• Navy blue scrubs
• Artificial nails prohibited in patient care areas
• Valid driver's license required at hire (50-mile radius requirement applies)

Contract Terms

Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts within the 13-week assignment.
