Operating Room – Surgical Services RN | Travel Contract

Shift: Days | 5x8-hour shifts | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Contract Duration: 91 weeks

Location: Abingdon, VA

This OR position supports a busy multi-specialty surgical environment averaging 18 cases daily across six operating rooms. The surgical team covers a broad scope of services, including:

• General and laparoscopic procedures
• OB/GYN, including C-sections
• Urology
• Orthopedics (total joints and orthopedic trauma, excluding pelvic and acetabular fractures)
• Ear, Nose & Throat
• Plastics
• Pulmonary/thoracic
• Robot-assisted surgery
• Organ procurement

The unit serves adolescent, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients and is supported by an interdisciplinary team including pharmacy, radiology, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, phlebotomy, and interpretation services.

Scheduling Notes:

• Rotational weekend and weekday call required, including holidays
• The facility may cancel one shift biweekly without financial penalty due to census decreases
• Orientation begins Sundays (online modules); approximately 4–5 hours of non-billable module time

Required Certifications:

• AHA BLS (AHA-issued only)
• ACLS (AHA-issued only)
• CNOR preferred

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2+ years of OR experience
• Minimum 100-mile radius from facility (no locals accepted)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Familiarity with robotic-assisted surgical platforms and advanced orthopedic systems preferred
