PCU / Stepdown

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Registered Nurse

This PCU position focuses on neurological and trauma patients in a fast-paced step-down environment. The unit manages complex, high-acuity cases requiring close monitoring and hands-on intervention.

Clinical Scope & Procedures

• Neuro and spinal checks
• C-collar placement and TLSO brace management
• Chest tube, lumbar drain, and trach care
• PCA pump and IV infusion management
• Feeding tube placement
• Blood transfusions

Required Certifications

• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (all required — candidates without these will not be considered)
• Neuro and/or trauma care experience is strongly preferred

Schedule & Contract Details

• Every other weekend required
• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Float & Coverage

Nurses may float to stepdown and med-surg units as needed.

A team-oriented, patient-focused RN who is comfortable managing neurological and trauma patients, performing spinal assessments, and working in a high-acuity PCU setting.
