Perinatal RN – Labor & Delivery
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Perinatal RN for a 13-week contract in Labor & Delivery. This is a day shift position working 3x12-hour shifts (07:00–19:30), every other weekend. Start date: ASAP.
Clinical Scope
You'll manage the full spectrum of perinatal care across four antepartum rooms, nine labor/high-risk rooms, and three spaces. Responsibilities include:
- Fetal heart rate monitoring and high-risk pregnancy assessment
- Intrapartum care: labor support, vaginal delivery assistance, and C-section circulation
- Scrubbing for cesarean sections in the OR
- Newborn resuscitation and delivery room support
- Postpartum couplet care (maternal and newborn) when staffing allows
- Float to postpartum as needed; no on-call required
The facility delivers approximately 200 babies per month.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years perinatal nursing experience
- Current RN license (compact license acceptable; must be in hand at submission)
- AWHONN Advanced certification (or NCC EFM acceptable)
- ACLS, BLS, NRP, and FHM certifications
- Travel nursing experience required
What to Expect
- Navy blue scrubs (provided for OR/L&D)
- Guaranteed hours with one call-off permitted per two-week pay period
- Interdisciplinary support: respiratory, radiology, phlebotomy, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams available
- 50-mile local radius
Important Notes
Submit all RTO and scheduling requests upfront during application. Must commit to working 3 of 5 holiday shifts (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day). Two professional references required (covering 1 year within the last 3 years). Prior Providence facility experience must be disclosed with dates.
