PCU / Stepdown

Progressive Care / Cardiac Stepdown — Asheville, NC

Day Shift | 13-Week Contract | Starts October 12, 2026

This cardiac progressive care unit manages a high-acuity patient population including CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, and DKA. The unit also cares for patients recovering from cardiac catheterization, stent placement, pacemaker/ICD insertion, and ablation procedures. Bedside cardioversion is performed on the unit.

Shift Details

• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
• Every other weekend required
• Float coverage: Med-Surg, Stepdown, and ER holding areas

Required Qualifications

• Stepdown or progressive care experience (required)
• Telemetry experience (required)
• Proficiency with titratable cardiac IV medications: nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, Lasix/Bumex (required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with prostacyclin therapy (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin)
• Relief charge nurse experience

Dress Code

All white, all navy blue, or white top with navy blue pants
