Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Night Shift
Position Overview
Join the healthcare team at the facility's Progressive Care Unit for a 13-week contract. This night shift role (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) offers 36 guaranteed hours per week in a dynamic acute care environment.
About the Unit
The PCU provides intermediate-level care for patients stepping down from intensive care or requiring closer monitoring than a standard medical-surgical floor. You'll manage post-operative patients, those recovering from acute illness, and individuals with complex medical conditions requiring frequent assessment and intervention.
What You'll Do
- Deliver skilled nursing care to a mixed-acuity patient population
- Monitor vital signs, lab values, and patient responses to treatment
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on patient management
- Perform patient education and discharge planning
- Contribute to a culture of safety and quality outcomes
Requirements
- Current RN license (NC)
- BLS certification required
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage a moderate patient census with varied needs
- Comfortable with night shift operations and team dynamics
