PCU / Stepdown
Registered Nurse – Intermediate Intensive Care (IMC/IICU)
Location: Columbia, SC | Shift: Days, 3x12 (07:00–19:30) | Contract: 13 Weeks
This intermediate intensive care unit manages adult patients requiring close monitoring or interventions every one to two hours. The patient population includes trauma, medical, surgical, and neurology cases. The unit receives direct admissions, transfers from the ICU, and escalations from Rapid Response Teams.
Schedule & Expectations
- Day shift: 07:00–19:30
- 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period
- Float to other qualified units or campuses may be required based on census needs
- Facility may call off one shift per two-week period
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; at least 1 completed travel assignment (first-time travelers accepted with 3 years of specialty experience)
- Active SC or multistate compact license (no pending licenses accepted)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- One year of electronic medical record experience required
Clinical Skills Required
- Cardiac monitoring: telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management
- Titration of cardiac, vasoactive, and insulin drips
- Ventilator management
- Experience with neurology, trauma, and surgical patient populations preferred
Interdisciplinary Support Available
IV therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, rapid response teams, radiology, social services, and phlebotomy.
Flu vaccine required; no exemptions accepted.
All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of application. Pre-assignment testing and compliance modules are required within 48 hours of contract signing.
