Medical-Surgical Nursing – Day Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a compassionate RN to join the Medical-Surgical unit for a 13-week contract. You'll provide direct bedside care to adult patients with a diverse range of medical and surgical conditions, working day shifts (7:30 AM–8:00 PM).

Clinical Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care in consultation with the healthcare team
• Manage pre- and post-operative patients, including wound care, pain management, and discharge planning
• Administer medications, start IVs, insert catheters, and perform dressing changes
• Monitor vital signs and telemetry; report adverse reactions promptly
• Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory)
• Educate patients and families on procedures, medications, and discharge instructions
• Document assessments, interventions, and responses accurately in the EMR
• Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols

Requirements

• Active New York State RN license with primary source verification
• AHA BLS certification required; ACLS required for some facilities
• Minimum 2 years Med-Surg experience in acute care (most recent experience within the past year)
• ADN required; BSN preferred
• Physical assessment, medication administration, IV therapy, and wound care proficiency
• Ability to manage 4–6 patients per shift with varying acuity levels

Preferred Qualifications

• CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse)
• Previous EMR experience
