Surgical Technologist – Cardiovascular/Thoracic Operating Room

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist to join the cardiovascular and thoracic operating room team. You will provide scrub support during complex cardiac and thoracic procedures, working as an integral member of the surgical team under the direction of the registered nurse.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile fields, specialized cardiac instruments, and equipment for cardiovascular and thoracic cases (CABG, valve repairs/replacements, aortic repairs, etc.)
• Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons, anticipating procedural needs during complex cases
• Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after each procedure
• Coordinate with the perfusion team and surgical staff regarding cardiopulmonary bypass setup
• Handle specimens for pathology per facility protocol
• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, circulating RN, and anesthesia to ensure efficient case flow
• Maintain and organize specialized cardiac surgical instruments and equipment
• Assist with room turnover and terminal cleaning between cases

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification
• BLS certification
• 1+ years of cardiovascular/thoracic surgical technologist experience
• Strong knowledge of cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures, instrumentation, and cardiopulmonary bypass

Schedule

• Second shift: 11:00 AM – 9:30 PM, four 10-hour days per week
• Weekends and holidays as needed
• On-call required

Contract Duration: 18 weeks | Start Date: November 30, 2026
